West End is located to the south west of Palmerston North Central. The suburb is fairly large with its boundaries being Botanical Road and Katene Street in the west, to the south is the Manawatu River, to the north west is Main Street West/Pioneer Highway.

The main attractions include; Victoria Esplanade, Lido Swimming Complex, Manawatu Bowling Club and the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Centre. Four schools are sited in the suburb. They are Palmerston North Girls High School, Palmerston North Intermediate Normal School, West End School and Awatapu College. There are also a number of parks located in West End; Fitzherbert Park, Ongley Park, Manawaroa Park and Savage Reserve.
