Karori
Located at the western edge of Wellington, some four km from the city centre, Karori is New Zealand’s largest suburb and is an epicentre of family life with great parks, good schools, shopping mall, a library and a community swimming pool. But this is no sprawling and impersonal neighbourhood; people love living here, with many generations having enjoyed the plentiful local facilities and schools. Karori is well serviced with public transport and is deceptively close to Wellington City. Nestled amongst Karori's hills is the wildlife sanctuary, a fantastic place to spend a day with the family.
Karori is also home to a campus of Victoria University of Wellington and Helen Lowry Hall of Residence. There are three state primary schools in Karori: St Teresa's School, Karori Normal School, and Karori West Normal School. All three schools are ranked as high decile schools.
