Michaela
We hired Michaela in January of this year as our receptionist. Initially she was quiet but as she keeps settling in she is becoming as loud and ‘well humoured’ as everyone else (In our office the term ‘well humoured’ means hassling me back and sometimes winning). Michaela’s phone manner is great and she is dealing with more and more of the tricky phone calls we get from tenants. She is a great member of our team and we really appreciate her.

Last week, I agreed to bite the bullet and hire a full time admin assistant. With tenants being tardier with their rent payments in the current environment and the work required to chase them up, Pam was losing most of her day to this crucial yet time consuming job.
So we placed an ad on Trademe jobs. The ad pulled no punches and we offered only average pay for the position and yet in 28 hours we had received 56 applications. It was a little over whelming.
The depressing thing reading through them was that every third one seemed to mention they had recently been made redundant. It was a little of a reality check. While I might be grumbling about having to spend more money to get the same money in, we are in the position where we can hire someone – which is a lot better than a lot of people.

Rachel is our practice manager. She makes sure everything happens. Everything! From organising team meetings, scheduling showing times, to making sure ads are in and also scheduling my day. She has a fantastic approach to it all, and only rarely gets annoyed with me for throwing things into the calendar moments after she’s finalised it for the day. Rachel quite cheerfully tackles anything that comes up and just gets it under control.
She is often the cool calm collected influence amongst the chaos of a frantic day.

Claudia. I don’t believe I have ever met someone with a more ‘can do’ attitude. There’s never a task that she won’t try, and do well at. She has a fantastic attitude and always goes the extra mile to make sure things get done.
Claudia does a large amount of our ‘running around’ work. Putting up signage, taking ad photos, checking to see what maintenance is needed, and all the other small related tasks. She also does a lot of showings and inspections - and is just simply good at her job.
We really value her and her attitude and love having her as part of our team.

‘Pam’. I will do by best not to be biased and stick the facts (For those who don’t know Pam is my partner and I think she’s the best).
Pam has an amazing ability to stay calm and collected. People can tell her blatant untruths and unlike me, she still keeps a smile on her face and in her voice. She has a very in-depth understanding of the Tenancy Act and also of Tenancy Tribunal rulings and all of us look to her for clarification of points relating to us on a regular basis.
Pam also deals a lot with the chasing of unpaid rents and related matters and the vast majority of the time she resolves the issues and somehow doesn’t seem to alienate the tenants.
(Now for some bias) I think she’s simply great J
